Currently: January 2015

It’s my first Currently post of the new year! The winter is certainly flying by (and I am definitely not complaining about that!). I was looking back at last month’s post and remembering how COLD it was. It’s definitely been a different story this week- Monday and Tuesday were in the 70s! I’ve been enjoying this taste of spring and trying to get outside as much as I can (because I’m sure it’s going to be followed by another cold spell soon enough!).

I’ve been talking about going to the Wild Animal Sanctuary since last summer, but had yet to actually make the trip there. Greg and I (along with our back-door neighbors) took advantage of the great weather on Sunday and finally made it over there! If you live in Colorado (or are visiting), I highly recommend visit the Wild Animal Sanctuary. You can read about their story here (and then you’ll be planning your trip!). There were lions, tigers and bears (oh my!) but the wolves were my absolute favorite. They were so much fun to watch- and it was so cool when they started howling.

I’ll definitely be going back in the spring. Most of the bears (they have 150 total!) were hibernating, and apparently they are all out and about after winter. :)

Moving on…

Currently: January

Current books: Gone Girl.

My next-door neighbor basically forced me to read it, but I’m so glad that he did! I’m only about half way through the book, but I was hooked from the very first page. I’m dying to know what happens and hope that I can set some time aside to finish reading is ASAP (and then see the movie!).

Current music: This is my current play over and over again on rotation song:

Current guilty pleasure: Vanderpump Rules.

I’m sure I’ve said this answer a few times before, but it’s true! I can not get enough of this show- it’s so stupid and full of drama. Basically, it’s perfect.

Current nail color: How about the same shot of my bunion-y feet from last month?

They still look the same… just a little chipped.

Current drink: Tea! Although I’m generally a coffee drinker, I’ve been trading it for tea. I drank SO much tea when I was sick earlier this month and have been on a kick ever since.

Current food: These bacon, egg and cheese stuffed waffles that I made for my work’s recipe database:

They are SO DAMN GOOD. Get the recipe here.

Current shows: I was looking for a new show on Netflix to get hooked on, so I started watching Friday Night Lights. I’m still only on season one, but like it so far! And… I also started re-watching the Gilmore Girls (even though I just finished it last month…).

Current wish list: for spring to hurry up get here (or more importantly, summer!). I’ve got a few different visitors coming to stay with me in the spring and summer and just want to fast-forward to then! :)

Current needs: A haircut! As usual, I have neglected making an appointment to at least get my hair trimmed, and it looks like a big ol’ mess. My average time between haircut appointments is one year (although I think I went almost three years once). I don’t know why I don’t put more emphasis on this element of personal care, but I need to! I want THIS haircut again:

I would almost fly back to Maryland just so I can make an appointment with my former stylist.

Current triumphs: Giving skiing a try again (three times so far this season). I have decided that it’s okay if I take it easy this season and don’t get out there a ton of times (and, it’s probably what my surgeon and physical therapist would prefer)!

Also- I haven’t talked about weight loss much lately, but I made it a goal to just “maintain” from Thanksgiving to New Years, and I did! And, I’ve lost almost 6 lbs. since the new year. Only about 24 more to go (or whatever “feels” right)! I only use my Quantum Scale anymore, so I have no idea what I weigh (and don’t care)- but like that it just shows whatever you’ve gained or lost since the scale was reset.

Current bane of my existence: Gray hair. I’m pretty sure that my hair is very aware of me turning 35 next month (which according to Carrie Bradshaw is “officially old”)- I’ve got more popping up every day!

Current celebrity crush: It would be Paul Rudd, of course. But, since I always post photos of him (or other eye candy), I thought I’d share this one of my lovely dogs in their new favorite chair.

I’ve wanted a papasan chair since I was 12 years old, and finally went out and bought one the other week… which my dogs immediately claimed.

Current indulgence: Looking at my friend Kait’s second Instagram account that she created for her two gorgeous dogs! They are the cutest, funniest pups. Follow her here for a daily dose of cuteness (which are SURE to make you smile!). We are supposed to have a puppy play date sometime soon- I can’t wait!

Current blessing: Again, the blast of warm weather that we’ve been having!

Current outfit: I’m working from home today, so that means the standard leggings and hoodie.

I just bought my first ever pair of Uggs- and I LOVE them! They’re so comfortable! I’m having a hard time not wearing them everywhere.

Current excitement: Planning for Blend! We had a huge surge of sponsors this past month, and I’m so excited about all of them! If you haven’t bought your ticket yet DO IT NOW! WE have a very limited number of spots, so don’t wait too long!

Current mood: Happy that it’s FRIDAY.

Current link: Sierra Trading Post- go check out my post about breakfast-on-the-go on their blog. :)

What’s going on with you currently?

  1. Congrats on the uggs, I still love mine, even if I see jokes about 2003 style occasionally. I just got a new pair that are waterproof, and am obsessed!

  2. I am so very terrible about haircuts, too. But, I’ve found if I schedule my next one, as I leave the current one, I’m much more accountable. Because, even if I don’t want to go, I always have to call and at least cancel it – which usually means I at least reschedule one.

Also … so jealous of your work attire.

P.S. I don’t know if you care, but Bloglovin still says this blog is “Oatmeal After Spinning”. FYI!

  3. i am such an ugg fan. so comfy. like walking on pillows all day.

  4. Keep up the skiing. And where’s the update on the beer Greg is fermenting in your house.

  5. I have two pair of Ugg slippers. LOVE!

  6. I LOOOOVEd Gone Girl- if you like her writing style, her other books Dark Places and Sharp Objects are f’ing amazing. I could not put those books down.
My Mom and Dad bought me a pair of Uggs for Christmas about 6 years ago and they are still just as soft and warm as they were the day I got them.

  1. […] needs: Just like last month… a haircut. I wonder if I’ll be writing the same thing in March’s […]
