Currently: July

Hello! Dang… I am in a good mood today and just feel this sense of happiness that I haven’t had in months. I taught my first Bodypump class (at 6:00am!) this morning since surgery! The last class that I taught was May 15th… that’s a long break! I was excited (and a little nervous) to go back, but I had no idea just how much I missed teaching until today. It was great to see everyone and be welcomed back and I’m happy to say that I survived the entire hour of teaching. I had just about forgotten about the feeling I get from teaching a class until this morning. It’s just one of the best feelings in the world- a combination of endorphins and a sense of accomplishment- I’m so glad to have it back in my life.

Okay, enough gushing about Bodypump. (Except one more thing- the latest release, Bodypump 90, ROCKS.) Here’s what’s going on in my world, currently:

Current books: I’m about to pick up a copy of my friend Kelly’s second novel, which was just released this past Tuesday!

She’s had two books published in less than a year (here’s the first)- I’m so proud!! If you’re into Young Adult Fiction, check this book out!

Current music: Bodypump 90 ALL THE TIME. I was cramming to learn the choreography this past week!

Current guilty pleasure: The Real Housewives of New Jersey!

Actually, I’m not a huge fan of this season. It just doesn’t seem right to have the show without Jacqueline or Caroline (who is supposed to be filming her own reality show spin-off).

Current nail color: As per usual, a pink-ish color that’s halfway chipped off.

Current drink:  Water in my Hydroflask and coffee from this awesome local shoppe.

Current food: I’m working on a peach and cherry cobbler recipe for work. I made one version yesterday and will make another today (and choose the best of the two). Recipe development is a necessary part of the job, and is definitely not helping my efforts to lose weight!

Current favorite show: I’m still having my love affair with Netflix (I just finished Orange is the New Black last night!). I’m watching a few old favorites from the beginning (Parenthood and Don’t Trust the B in Apt 23) and am a few episodes into Undeclared and Breaking Bad. Weeds is next on my watchlist!

Current wish list: an activity brace like this one:

I’m going to request to be fitted for a smaller brace so that I feel a little safer when I’m out hiking and doing other activities. They make one especially for skiing too!

Current needs: A bite guard (I recently learned that I grind my teeth!). They are expensive and not generally covered by insurance!

Current triumphs: Getting back out there and hiking- I did my longest post-surgery hike yet this past weekend with Greg and Paige- 5+ miles with 1,000+ feet elevation gain! This hike would’ve been a piece of cake for me before my injury, but it was definitely tough.

Current bane of my existence: Scar tissue and having to break it up. EW. and OW.

Current celebrity crush: Paul Rudd, of course.

Have you seen Wanderlust? The scene that that GIF was made from is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen in my life!!

Current indulgence: Vanilla ice cream with everything (especially with berries!). I’d blame it on summer, but I will happily eat ice cream all year long.

Current blessing: Making progress in recovery, friends, husband, dogs, house, job…. there’s a lot of good going on!

Current excitement: A group of some of my best friends from Maryland are coming to visit next week! Most of them have never been here and I can’t wait to see them and show them around!

Current mood: Exhausted (is that a mood?) but elated. It doesn’t take much these days to wear me out!

  2. I’m so glad things are going well and you’re able to get back into your regular routine! John and I are seriously loving The West Wing right now. Somehow we never watched it before, and now we can’t get enough!

    P.S. Just booked our condo for Steamboat this winter. We should try to hook up while out there!

    • I have no watched The West Wing. I haven’t really ever been interested- but I’ll put it on my list!
      Keep me posted on Steamboat details. We’ll be there at some point this winter (skiing or not!). I’m probably going to wait to attempt to ski until January… I’ll see what my doc says.

  4. Yay! I’m just so excited for you that you’ve been able to get back into all the activities that you LOVE! And a major YAY for BODYPUMP! So glad you’re loving 90 – I just did a review on my thoughts of it yesterday. It’ll always hold a special place in my heart since I trained on it!

  6. Hey! Will has an activity knee brace that he wears for volleyball, skiing, etc, so if you have any questions, you can definitely ask him!

  8. I feel your pain at being sidelined (for what seems like ever – I’ve been on crutches since march 4) have you (well really your pt) tried the graston on your scar tissue? It’s helping me

    I never thought we needed Netflix…and then my 4th baby was born who decided she doesn’t nap unless she’s on my chest and there is NOTHING on TV during the day!!!
