I know I’ve said it before, but I feel like I have a constant list running in my head of great new finds to blog about. Unfortunately, that list seems to only exist in my own memory (which is very poor!). I’m going to make an attempt here to remember what those new favorite things are and present them in this post. For the ones I miss- they’ll make it onto the next favorites post. I should probably start writing ideas down…
#1. Mix My Own Muesli
I was recently contacted by this company with an offer to create my own healthy breakfast cereal blend to try. As soon as I checked out their website, I was in! I love the concept: choose from various ingredients (grains, nuts, seeds, fruits, spices, etc.) to customize your very own cereal. There are a ton of different choices for what to add- and it’s very easy to go nuts with mix-ins!
My cereal mix was made of whole grain oats, quinoa, blackberries, blueberries, cashews, coconut, hemp seeds, vanilla bean and ground cinnamon.
It’s soooo good on top of yogurt…
…or just right out of the bag.
Visit their website to create your own custom mix!
#2. Bhakti Chai
This drink has appeared on the blog a few times because I can’t get enough of it! Bhakti Chai is based out of Longmont, CO and sold all over the place in Colorado. I first discovered it at Whole Foods and bought a bottle of the unsweetened chai concentrate because it was on sale. I was immediately hooked! I like to mix it with almond milk and a little bit of stevia or agave and it’s just perfect. There are many different varieties of the chai concentrate for sale at retail locations including original, coffee blend and decaf. There’s also ready to drink bottles and chai-chipped ICE CREAM (made by Boulder Ice Cream).
A lot of local coffee shoppes and delis around here sell chai lattes made with Bhakti Chai (because it’s the best!). You can check out their website to see if it’s available near you (and I hope it is!!).
#3. Kalona Super Natural Cottage Cheese
You’re probably aware that I am a cottage cheese aficionado. I know that it grosses some people out, but I love it. Before moving to Colorado I was loyal to Friendship’s Salt-Free cottage cheese. Salt free cottage cheese definitely tastes a lot different than regular and it’s an acquired taste, but I really liked it. I haven’t been able to find out here (or any salt free cottage cheese for that matter) so I began trying out different brands. Some are just plain awful- and make me understand why there are people that are anti cottage cheese. I really like Whole Foods’ brand (the 1.5% version) and recently Paige turned me on to Kalona. It’s the perfect consistency and flavor and is delicious by itself, or with sweet or savory mix-ins. Like most varieties of cottage cheese it’s a little high in sodium, but given my normal (healthy) blood pressure and the amount that I sweat in workouts each day, I actually like to get a little extra salt back in my system.
#4. KIND Dark Chocolate Chili Almond bar
Now that I work for the field marketing team for KIND I really hope you’re not going get sick of me talking about them. The truth is their products rock and taste delicious! There are so many different bar flavors that I enjoy and it’s really hard to pick a favorite. The Dark Chocolate Chili Almond is definitely at the top though. I just tried one for the first time last week and whoa. It’s got just a little bit of heat on the finish which makes it unique and totally irresistible.
Big blog changes are coming soon.
Have a great weekend!
