It’s Friday! And it’s summer! Could life be any better?


I’m currently enjoying beautiful Portland and attending the Fitbloggin’ conference- and can’t wait to share the details with you guys next week!

I wanted to start out today’s post by finally talking a little more about a very cool little treat that’s been showing up on my blog a lot lately: GoodPop Frozen Pops!

I randomly discovered these guys while shopping at my local Whole Foods a few weeks ago. I was in the frozen fruit section, and the case right next to that had various frozen desserts. The GoodPop boxes immediately caught my eye! I ended up buying a box of the Banana Cinnamon flavor (can you blame me?) and tried one of the pops that night. It was love at first bite. This was one of the best frozen desserts I have ever tasted- I can only compare the taste to the milk that’s left in the bowl after you eat Cinnamon Toast Crunch (yeah… it’s that good!).

Fitbloggin’ Flashback

Hello! As you’re reading this, I’m probably somewhere in or around Portland. I’ve been enjoying some fun outside of the city for the last few days, but I’ll be in Portland for the rest of the weekend. Fitbloggin’ 2013 starts today and runs through Sunday morning, and I am so excited to get everything started!

I attended the conference for the first time last year, and had no idea what I was in store for ahead of time. Whatever expectations that I had were quickly exceeded, and I made new friends that I am still in contact with on a regular basis today.


I’m excited to see the friends that I made last September, looking forward to meeting new people and will miss those that are not able to attend (namely Ashley, Hilary and Dawn!) And congrats to Hilary on the (very) recent birth of her baby girl!!

WIAW 46: It Ended At Red Rocks


Hey friends! I did something a little different for this week’s WIAW post- I actually photographed my eats on a Wednesday! Exciting, I know. On this particular Wednesday, I was also able to check something off my 33 While 33 List- I went to a concert at Red Rocks! More details about that in a bit.

This day started pretty much like any other. Got up early, hit the gym and came back home ready to refuel. I decided to break open one of the samples of the new Cookies ‘N Cream flavor of PlantFusion protein that I got in my swag bag at Blend.


I mixed this packet with 1/2 a frozen banana, about 2 cups of almond milk and lots of ice. I split the whole thing with Greg. We both agreed that it was really tasty- I would definitely buy a whole tub of this flavor of PlantFusion.

Peach Pie Smoothie


Welcome to a brand new week, friends. I’ll be leaving for Portland early tomorrow morning for a little vacation before attending Fitbloggin’ this weekend. I’ve got a couple of reviews of products that I’m a big fan of lined up this week- so be sure to check back in! And speaking of new products that I love- did you check out FlapJacked yet?

When Heather announced that the “F” ingredient for the latest round of #MMAZ was flax, I knew exactly what I wanted to create!


Flax is the secret ingredient (well, maybe not so secret anymore!) in my “pie” smoothies. When combined with cinnamon, it’s the element that gives a smoothie that pie flavor. I also get to use one of my favorite ingredients ever in this recipe. ;)

I’m a big fan of pretty much any type of fruit pie, so I’m working my way through making more fruit pie smoothies. I’ve previously posted my two favorites, strawberry rhubarb and wild blueberry and thought I’d give peach a try next. After all, aren’t peaches one of the best fruits in season during the summer?

Fun Things To Get In The Mail


I don’t know about you, but I am a big fan of getting things in the mail. The thought of the postal service ever discontinuing mail delivery breaks my heart! There’s just nothing like a pen-to-paper letter or card- an email just isn’t the same!

Back when my friend Kelly and I were in graduate school, we made a habit of sending each other something in the mail at least every other week. Sometimes it was a card or a handwritten note, other times it was an interesting or funny article or photo we came across. Whatever it was, it didn’t matter- it was always fun to open up the mailbox and see a letter addressed to me (that wasn’t a bill or junk mail!).

Because I still love getting things in the mail (or delivered to my front door), I purposely order some things online that I could just as easily find at the store. But- the online deals are usually a bit cheaper and I don’t actually to go anywhere to find them.

Here’s a (short) list of things have made me smile when they showed up in my mailbox (or by my front door) recently:

High Protein Pancakes [FlapJacked Review!]


Yesterday, I posted a photo of some delicious looking (high protein) waffles, and promised to follow up with a review of the product.


These waffles were actually made with a high protein pancake mix from a company called FlapJacked (how clever is that name?!). Even though this product is marketed towards making pancakes, but, given my current waffle obsession, I had to see how it would work for waffles too.

I learned about this company from my friend Kelly, who had recently tried the pancake mix and loved it. And that’s saying a lot.. Kelly is somewhat of a picky eater… ;) When Kelly told me about Flapjacked, I was intrigued but also a little bit skeptical. I was definitely interested in the “high protein” factor of the pancake mix, but not so sure that it would also taste good. I had to find out for myself!

WIAW 45: I Used A [Real] Camera


How’s that for a WIAW title?

Welcome to another week of featured eats! As a special treat for today, I actually photographed a day of meals and snacks using my SLR, rather my iPhone, which I do far too often. Once again, I’m reminded how much sharper and “nicer” my photos look when I put down the iPhone. It’s just so much easier to carry my phone around, though!

My FUNKY Nails [Giveaway!]


If there is one thing that I get asked about in public (on an almost daily basis), it’s my nails. If you haven’t noticed before, my fingernails usually have some kind of crazy color, pattern or design going on.

Here’s a few of the different looks my nails have sported over the last few months:


And, on occasion, I’ve even been known to coordinate them with my outfit…


I’ve never really been one to pay much attention to my fingernails. They break easily and every time I paint them, the color is chipped by the end of the day. It was a major triumph for me to be able to grow them out for my wedding, which I was only able to do because I got a 14-day gel coating put on them to help protect them from breaking. Going to get my nails done every two weeks is too expensive for me to keep up with, and honestly, not really how I prefer to spend my time.

My friend Sara introduced me to Jamberry Nails last fall, and I was instantly hooked. I like them so much, that I even became a consultant a few months ago. Since I’ve mentioned Jamberry Nails here and there on the blog, I figured it was finally time to explain what they really are, and (even better!) to give one lucky reader a set of her (or his, I don’t judge…) own to try out!

High Altitude Fun With Friends


One of my favorite things to do in Colorado is get on 70 west and drive out to the mountains. Before Greg and I moved here, it was tradition for us to drive out to Breckenridge to hang out for the day, with a stop at Loveland Pass for a “quick” hike up to 13,000′ elevation on the way. This tradition has shown up several times on this blog, and it’s something that we’ll be doing for a long time to come. I still can’t really believe that we can just drive out there from our house in a little over an hour…

Last month, when my friend Brie was visiting, I drove her and Paige out west for the same trip. Unfortunately, the trail at Loveland Pass was completely covered in snow, so we couldn’t make it all the way to the top. Paige had wanted to go back out there with her husband Shane, so we decided that we would wait until mid-June to plan it. With all of the warm weather we’ve been having since then, I figured we’d be safe to go this past weekend. Luckily, I was right! There was still some snow (there is at least a little snow on the ground year-round), but the trail was completely accessible.

When we got to Loveland Pass, we started by getting our usual pose by the sign:
